A Season For Remembering

(A poem by Wilson Lau on 27th Nov 2008)

Christmas is a season for giving and receiving
To me, it's also a season for remembering

I remember that God sent His only Son in love
Giving me the best of all gifts from heaven above

I remember that Christ was born in a humble manger
He came to be my dearest friend, never a stranger

I remember the Christmas ornaments and bright lights
Singing nostalgic carols of Noel and Silent Night

I remember the many cards with nice warm greetings
Reading them often brings me sweet memorable feelings

I remember the festive meals with abundant food
Enjoying the friendship, ending with coffee fragrantly brewed

I remember the year past and how God led me through
Grateful indeed to have a God so faithful and true

Christ is the reason for the Christmas celebration
Apart from Him, there is no meaning to the season

Therefore give your heart to Jesus, give your all to Him
Love Him, honor Him, worship Him with unending hymms

Christmas is a season for giving and receiving
May it be to you a season for remembering

What sort of life am I living?

(Poem by Wilson Lau on 2nd June 2008)

Am I living a people-directed life?
Perhaps.
I follow their words of wisdom.

Am I living a work-focused life?
Perhaps.
Work seems to represent my self-worth.

Am I living an obedience-centred life?
Perhaps.
Obedience seems legalistic and denotes my identity.

What sort of life God wants me to live?
A Christ-intent life
A life in Christ
A life with Christ
A life only Christ,
No need to add, no need to subtract
Christ alone is all I need.

In Him is divine wisdom to lead people
In Him is ample power to minister
In Him is pure gladness to obey Him
Christ alone is all I need.
